Abstract
The subject of the research is US political discourse after the World War II: the article presents cognitive analysis of the principles of its construction. The author reveals the role of the democracy concept as the pivotal one, upon which legitimization of the US foreign-political activity is constructed. Under the presidency of G. Bush Jr. the democracy concept lived through a period of rapid oversimplification, turning, in the author’s opinion, into a mythologem formed according to the patterns of Protestantism.
