The author attempts to substantiate the necessity of intensive study of mythology as one of important components of modern political ideology. Different issues related to this theme are raised: sacredness of mythology, binary character of mythological conceptions (good - evil), time and space in the myth, mythological role of holidays e.a. The author says his say against prevailing judgments that transition is now, allegedly, going on from the so-called "primitive" myth to "conscious" mythology.
