Abstract

It is results of working up the problem of social contract in the analytical studies of the 1970s to the 1990s that are discussed in the article. The author, first of all, expounds competitive concepts of social contract (by Hobbes and by Lock); and then he exposes the gist and recalls the types of arguments in modern theories of contract, demonstrates their consequences for political theory and practice and discloses their significance for civil society.
