Abstract

Abkhazia is, evidently, oriented to up-building of a full-fledged independent state, whereas South Ossetia – to entering the Russian Federation. This latter circumstance allows Russia to use the process of reunification of the two Ossetias as a pilot project of amalgamation of a region immediately within Northern Caucasus. Today Russia has received a chance to practically work out approaches to settling the no simple intra-elite contradictions emerging in the course of any such amalgamation.
