Abstract

Discussing the main conceptual theses of the new book by N.S.Rozov the author of the book review enters into polemics with him around questions of cycles of Russian history and of the ways of “democratic transit”. Proceeding from the two-subsystems model of the Russian system and in confronting his vision with the corresponding cycles in N.S.Rozov’s concept, the author of the book review proposes his own original interpretation of the “long” and “short” cycles in the Russian history of the 18th to the 20th centuries.

Keywords
social dynamics; circuit of degradation; cycles of Russian history; liberalization; democratization; structure of the Russian system.
