Abstract

This review of Ye.Yu. Meleshkina’s book – Е.Ю. Мелешкина. Формирование новых государств в Восточной Европе. М., 2012, 251 с. (Ye.Yu. Meleshkina. Formation of New States in East Europe) – presents reflections on methods of comparative political studies of state sovereignty, of empires’ politics, as well as on significance of imperial heritage in contemporary post-Soviet states’ political processes. In the reviewer’s opinion, the research under consideration can become starting point in comprehending political processes in the republics of the former Soviet Union, not excluding Russia itself. Considered are the principal theses and conclusions of the reviewed publication.
