Abstract

The study focuses on the question: for what reason do some scientific or art works immediately and easily obtain acknowledgement both of public at large and of narrow professional groups, while the rest become known only within one of these groups? What is the role of political class in this process? What mechanisms make literary, art and scientific works gain extraordinary weight in the society? Finally, what are the roots of the change in relation to art and its subjects in the last decades? On the basis of political analysis performed by the author a conclusion can be drawn that current obstacles on the path of science and art will yet be overcome.

Keywords
problem of social recognition; creative activity; social request for “the unprecedented”; “the genius image” in the mass consciousness; socialization of science.
