Abstract

The article covers issues of institutionalization of chronopolitics as a self-dependent field within contemporary political science, issues of development of chronopolitics in the capacity of a research program. The relation of chronopolitics is determined to other programs of investigating political transformations (modernization theory, world system approach, transitology, theories of international relations), theoretical foundations (“the hard kernel”) of chronopolitical knowledge are discussed. On analyzing the chronopolitical devisings of recent years, the author brings to light positive upheavals in the studies of chronopolitics problems. According to his conclusion, scientific significance and topicality of chronopolitics are underlain by dynamism of modern political process, by the scope of political transformations, of social and environmental changes requiring new complex research programs and systemic political governance approaches.
