Abstract

Japanese identity presents a unique hybrid of Occidental and Oriental values. Is Japan to be considered a separate civilization or a part of united Far-Eastern civilization? The substance of the question is towards which pole it gravitates in the face of the challenges of globalization. To all appearances, the Country of the Rising Sun is drifting towards the Orient.
