Abstract
The article contains research of the phenomenon of regional identity and of political culture within a united federal state, it analyzes the stages of transformational processes in the formation and functioning of a special identity in the Republic of Bashkortostan for the past fifteen years, the place and role of power elites, of national intelligentsia, of mass media in these processes.
