Abstract
Presented to the readers attention is a critical review of two books: one of them is the monograph by Academician A.Kokoshin - “Ensuring Strategic Stability in the Past and Now”; and the other is about the Academician himself and about his companions-in-arms. The review gives an account of the Soviet Union’s and Russia’s efforts in preparing “asymmetrical” answer to the nuclear threat, and of the new Russian initiatives in the sphere of consolidating the stability in the world.
