Abstract
The article deals with topical problems of political and economic development of the Middle East. Special attention is paid to the crisis of power legitimacy as a fundamental cause of the impossibility of stable development in most of the countries of the region. At the same time, regional examples of successful modernization are discussed, as well as their significance for possible creation of new financial, economic and social centers in the region.
