Abstract

The author examines peculiarities of politico-cultural tradition of the West through peculiarity of its religious worldview. He performs comparative analysis of Western religious culture, on the one hand, and South Asian and Far Eastern cultures – on the other. Geographical boundaries of cultural macro-regions of the Old World are determined. Features of the South Asian system of worldview ideas, typically, are: theocentricism, absence of personality, unreality of the world, percept to evade the illusive, but agonizing mundane being. Features of the Far-Eastern system of worldview ideas, are: cosmocentricism, sociality, immanency of the eternal and of the temporary, aspiration for the harmonization of the earthly with the divine, of the temporary with the eternal.
