Abstract

What is the role of mechanisms of informal governance in international organizations? What is their performance in the interaction with formal norms and practices? And how does the resultant of this interaction influence on the character of global governance as a whole? These, along with some other questions are dealt with in the book by R. Stone (Stone R.W. Controlling Institutions: International Organizations and the Global Economy. Cambridge University Press, 2011, 272 p.) as well as in some of the articles in the special issue of “The Review of International Organizations”, June 2013.
