With resort to concepts applied in regional, geopolitical studies and studies of globalization, the author theoretically generalizes the experience of participation of Russian Federation's North-West in trans-border regional cooperation. Characteristic features of this form of present-time cooperation are demonstrated in the article. Special attention is given to the analysis of the role of trans-border ties between the Baltic states and Russian Federation's North-West in the strengthening of regional security. Geopolitical aspects of Russia's and Baltic states' interaction are, furthermore, discussed. Development of the system of trans-border cooperation in the zone in question is qualified as part, and, at that, very active part, of the globalization process.
