 We received the sad news of our loss: on May 22, Viktor Mikhailovich SERGEEV, a member of the Polis Editorial Board and our regular contributor, passed away. He was a prominent scholar – political scientist, historian, and mathematician. A multifaceted researcher and encyclopedist, he was at the forefront of our journal's founding, and throughout the entire period of the Polis Journal’s Virtual Workshops: Political Studies project (2002-2008), he directed the “Methodology of Political Science” workshop. In 1998, Viktor Mikhailovich became head of the Center for International Studies (CIS) at MGIMO, which in 2009 spun off into what is now the Institute of International Studies (IIS MGIMO). He headed the Center for Global Problems, and since 2020, he has served as Chief Research Fellow at IIS (for more information about his life and scientific contributions, see the MGIMO website: https://mgimo.ru/about/news/departments/ushel-iz-zhizni-vm-sergeev/). Viktor was an exceptionally warm and responsive person, possessing impeccable scientific ethics and a knack for generating innovative projects and generously sharing them with colleagues. We will always cherish fond and grateful memories of him. We express our deepest compassion to his family and friends.
