Abstract

Until recently, the world was dominated by the concept of political development and derivative theories proposed by Western political science, but the shortcomings of these concepts are becoming increasingly noticeable. This article revises the concept of political development, uses its meaning to analyze political processes that have been taking place since the beginning of reforms and the opening up of China. It argues that an integral mechanism of political development is the regulation of the alignment of relations in political power, which contributes to the economic and social development of the country and to finding solutions to major national issues. Analyzing political processes in China over 40 years of reform through the new lense of the concept of political development, the authors note that after the three stages of political development, the political system has been reformed and explored in many ways in accordance with various situations and tasks of economic and social development. The political development of China has become an important support and guarantee of economic and social progress. Its main experience lies in the fusion of political unity and political vitality, the unified leadership of the country while sharing political power.
