The article presents analysis of the development of Russia’s political science community as a professional corporation, since 1989. Giving an account of the consequences of official recognition of political science in 1989, the author, moreover, investigates the cause of the subsequent sharp drop in the quality of the intellectual product of the community as a whole. Special attention is given to the genesis of scientific infrastructure of political science, as well as to the destinies of scientific schools.
