The article analyzes the threats associated with mass foreign cultural immigration to Europe. The key threats considered by the author are the growing number of terrorist acts and the erosion of European identity. Despite serious concerns about these threats, the efforts of European governments are generally limited to palliative counter-measures. The author shows that the transition to a more effective policy in this sphere is hindered by dogmatically interpreted postulates of liberal democracy. In the first place, it is the unconditional, without regard to a specific situation, prevalence of freedom values in public relations, which leads to underestimation of security needs. Multicultural policy adopted in many European countries resulted primarily in the isolation of Muslim immigrants. The problem of mass immigration requires new approaches and solutions. The article examines possible prospects for the development of the situation and discusses the problem of the relationship between freedom and security in real politics.
