Abstract

In her article, the author brings forward the problem of geographical knowledge being unclaimed in Russian political science. Political science in Russia is nowadays developing out of geographical context, whereas society (and particularly Russian society) is structured spatially and it is impossible, the author holds, to comprehend modern political environment without seriously assimilating geography, in particular morphology of Russia’s expanse. Besides, geographical knowledge can prove an important instrument of political action. Neglect of it tells not only on political science, but also on education in political science, since in the absence of geographical knowledge, political reality remains something abstract for the students. It is unwise, I.M.Busygina maintains, to hold on conserving the gap between political science and geography at the time when no other than interdisciplinary researches promise the main scientific novations.
