The article reveals the Russian capabilities (“soft” as well as “hard”), the efficiency of their use and the trajectories of the national foreign policy since 2008. The data is provided by face to face in-depth interviews of the prominent Russian experts and by the standardized questionnaires filled in by the members of Russian International Studies Association. The current crisis and uncertainty in the world gives a chance to improve this disbalance by accurate and thoughtful decisions, even not bolstered by huge power and capabilities.
