Abstract

The new geopolitical situation, which is changing before our eyes, highlights the specific role of Israeli-Ukrainian relations. The researchers present in the article a brief digression into the history of these relations, which dates back a little more than three decades, reveal the main aspects of bilateral interaction and its political, social and economic dimensions; analyze the causes and problems that prevent the two states from overcoming the accumulated negative trends and establishing a full-fledged cooperation. The articles that have recently appeared in the domestic and foreign press are mainly informational in nature, and they focus on aspects related to Israel’s unwillingness to participate in NATO countries’ campaign fully support of the Kiev regime’s confrontation with Russia. In this regard, the authors attempted to analyze a significant part of the complex of problems that have a key impact on the algorithm of development of Israeli-Ukrainian relations. The main result of the study is to answer a fundamentally important question: why, being a key strategic partner of the United States in the Middle East region, Israel, in contrast to the Russophobic position taken by NATO countries and their satellites, adheres to more balanced and constructive approach to the situation around Ukraine after Russia launched its special military operation.
