   11/25/25 In memoriam academician M. Gorshkov

On November 24, 2025, Mikhail Konstantinovich Gorshkov, Academician, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy, Laureate of the Russian Federation State Prize in Science and Technology, founder of the Federal Research Center of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and long-standing member of the Polis International Editorial Council, passed away. This is an irreparable loss for the entire Russian sociological community. We express our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

This is a great day, it is a reason for pride and joy. I. Pantin is an example of fortitude, confidence and love of life. We always feel like we are behind a stone wall, we are always waiting for his wise advice. We wish hin to meet the 100th anniversary with the same wise smile!

Congratulations on the anniversary of a great friend of our journal, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rector of MGIMO, Anatoly TORKUNOV! Besides his highest level of professionalism as a historian and political scientist, and his charisma that has allowed him to become an outstanding leader and lead the entire large team at MGIMO, he possesses a selfless willingness to help. We remember that during a difficult moment for 'Polis', he saved the journal.

MGIMO is a co-founder of the journal, and we prepared issue No. 5 of 'Polis' specifically for the Rector's anniversary. Here we publish the opening dialogue between MGIMO professors and members of the Editorial Board of the journal, Tatiana Alexeeva and Marina Lebedeva, titled 'International Political Thought: Challenges and Renewal'. The authors highlight Anatoly Vasilyevich's contribution to structuring the fields of international political research in Russia. The title of the article by A.V. Torkunov himself is 'Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in the Transformation of the Political World'.

We wish Anatoly Vasilyevich strength, health, new ideas, articles, and books!
